What’s Going on in Art Journalism? My Wednesday elective class is art journalism with Tate. She wanted to teach the class because in camp she had an art journal she used as a medium consisting of different drawings, sketches and writing. A typical day in art journaling consists of independent work time and periodic reflections on students’ art journal. For example, today we had to write half a page for two journal pages for the current semester. The two pages I reflected upon were my pages titled “New Start” and “There’s No Place Like Home.” What interests me most about art journaling is the idea and process of altering a book with various art mediums listed in the first paragraph. On the second Wednesday of the school year, I brought a book to school and had no clue where to start. I’ve loved compiling collages into a common theme, so I started collaging at the beginning of first semester and tried my hand at painting. To date, my favorite collage is from a magazine including an article defining beauty and how women don’t have to be “model skinny” to view themselves as beautiful. Recently, my journal has consisted of my future goals and dreams. Today I received an email that I was accepted to TCC for the fall quarter. Knowing I was college bound, I am extremely proud to represent Tacoma Community College as a Titan this upcoming fall. Today in the elective period, I listed my goals for 2017. In my personal email, I received journaling prompts from Pinterest. The two I did today were titled “My Mission of Celebrating Life and Love” and “26 Questions to Help you Know Yourself Better.” ~BRE |
