Aidan and Gavin win the contestHow did you come up with the design? I (Aidan) came up with the design by having a general interest in the house crest in Harry Potter, old British family house, and I thought it would be cool if Henderson had one since Henderson is also a family. What are the meanings of the symbols and how does it tie in with publications? The paw is for the Henderson Bay bulldog. The original logo on the upper right was the first logo when Henderson Bay was called Huloima Wehut High School. Huloima Wehut is Chinook jaron for "A different way". The lower right symbol is the Peninsula School District logo since that’s our school district. The fourth image is of a mother and child depicting our daycare and the students who attend a class called STARS-- part of our learning curriculum. Did this come to you as a complete design or did you go through a process? The bulldog head and chains stayed the same throughout the process, as well as the text and everything residing in the crest changed four or five times. Aidan was the conceptual artist. Gavin was the digital magician. Neither can agree as to who had the larger role. Aidan says Gavin and Gavin says Aidan. Congratulations to a job well done There were two other entries. The logos were shown to most staff members, some students and the PAWZ staff. The winning logo did have stiff competition but was the clear winner.
