The Robin Update
Not too much happening with Interact this week, but here is the latest with the HBHS Interact Club! There will be a meeting on Wednesday, where we will talk about the Guatemala trip and how there is already a group going there for Spring Break; we are currently searching for a new location, possibly Merida, which is the capital of the Mexican state of Yucatan, but it is all up in the air for now. Also, there are possibilities of another Rotary/Interact luncheon at 5 pm sometime in April, but that is also something that is yet to be decided.

On December 5th, 2017, Henderson Bay graciously held a Rotary luncheon for Midday Rotary and it was possibly the most student involved Rotary meeting at HBHS we’ve had so far.
Lindzy Jackson beautifully sang the National Anthem to start off the event, which segwayed into the Rotary pledge, formally initiating the meeting. Aidan and Nick sang, Celina danced and the Midday Rotary people got to hear the stories of different Henderson students. ~Nick Interact pre luncheon setup

Power Girls Retreat at Pilgrim Firs Nov 18 & 19 Click for Info
On November 18th, a friend and I took the weekend to go on a retreat together. It was the Power Girl's Retreat, for teenage girls to have a tech free weekend and to bring back/out the power they had/have to be more confident and so forth. It lasted from 11 am on Saturday to 2 pm Sunday. There were around 20 of us girls total, not including some staff who were hanging out with us. A lot was done over the weekend: many different activities, we had art periods, music classes, and some time to cool off and do yoga. We each got to meet new people from different ages in the teenage year spectrum. All in all, for me it was a good weekend and I’m glad to take this weekend and do something new, away from technology and away from stress all together.
The Power Girl's Weekend was filled with a lot of fun. Although it was only two days, it felt longer. We learned how to do yoga, did some music and made some art. Aside from making new friends and having a good time, all in all it was great being in the outdoors without any electronics. A lot of stress was gone from social media of any kind. All of the girls were fun to be with. We all had an amazing experience. A majority of the girls were from Gig Harbor High School and Peninsula High School, but it was still a fun experience meeting and getting to be with them. This was the first of many different Power Girls activities to come. And I would like to encourage any girls who would like to go, to actually go because it is fun to be with other girls around our age, and just have fun. ~JAI

It takes a village sometimes. We are always thankful for the many community members who come bearing gifts. Our needs are many but our resources seem to show up in many forms. Thanks.
