Last Semester of High School
I’m excited but scared to be done with high school. 4 years of my life went by faster than I ever could’ve thought. Sophomore and Junior year were definitely the hardest for me but just remember to keep yourself motivated and you’ll succeed in anything you want.
All through high school I goofed off and tried to be the “class clown” and now I’m starting to realize that I should’ve cared more about myself; not what everyone else thought about me. If I would’ve focused more on school I would have the same number of friends I do now but I would’ve been benefiting myself because now I look back and think, did I benefit anyone by trying to be funny? I never thought I’d believe my parents when they told me that school is important and will affect the rest of my life but it really does and I just wish I could’ve realized that earlier. I am very excited to be done with school and what I’ll do next with my life but I regret a lot of decisions I made in not only high school but school in general. I’m ready to start living my life without regrets. ~Brennan |

Mage?
M-magic the gathering A-anime G-games E-etc (mage for short) It is a fun-filled after school club for geeks, and nerds alike. It is on Thursday after school and an activity bus is provided. Bring your friends; it will be fun. I attended last meeting on the second of November. There were two people besides myself and I want to change that. The club meets from 1:50 pm to 4:00 pm or sooner depending on Francesco’s schedule. It is really fun, and I hope to see you there. ~Elijah |

Meet Henderson's school board Representative Fauna

Recently, I spoke to our School Board representative, Fauna, about what it was like to have such an important role in our Henderson Bay community. “I have to go to school board meetings that frequently meet once or twice a month....some that last four or more hours!” Fauna tells me.
At these meetings she says she sits at a table with the representatives from Gig Harbor High School, Finlay and Keir, who happen to be twins and, according to Fauna, switch places in the meetings from time to time., and the Peninsula High School representative, Dora.
At the beginning of each meeting, there is a brief statement about what is happening at each school that each representative must make; since Henderson Bay is a smaller school, ours is usually much more brief. Fauna tells me that these meetings have helped immensely with her ability in public speaking and professionalism.

Any plans for between now and when school gets out?
Story by Ryan
I was interested in what students around school want to do before school gets out (or even after).
I was interested in what trips they want to go on or were they just gonna sit at home and chill out. These are the answers I got.
I talked to Aiden L
“Before I get out for school I wanna try and go to the beach and also go camping. In general I just wanna get out more before school gets out and my plan is basically the same for summer, just try and get out of my house as much as possible."
I talked with Connor.
“Before school gets out I want to just go to the skate park with friends and drive around Washington pretty much.
I really don’t have anything special planned….just everyday stuff I do all the time.”
I also spoke with Alison.
“Before we get out for summer i'm probably just going to sit at home and invite friends over,
I might go out and do something with my friends like go to Seattle but i'm not really sure.”

Where would you go if you could travel anywhere on a field trip?
This question was posed by reporter Ryan and this is what he learned abut three people's dream.
JaredIf I could take a field trip anywhere I would probably visit some random foreign country because it would be such an amazing experience and one I feel like I could learn from; if I had to pick a specific country it would probably be China, Japan, Italy, or Mexico.
I would like to be able to take my friends as well and go sightseeing while on this trip and get to go visit different landmarks like the Eiffel tower. |
SolieIf I could go anywhere on a field trip I would honestly just probably sit at home instead of going to school because I prefer staying at home and having no one bother me.
(Solie has no recollection of this conversation) |
AidanIf I could go anywhere for a field trip I would probably just visit some random state within the United States of America, I don’t really want to travel outside of this country so I would just visit a fun place here like a fair or waterpark. That's basically it, I'd take some of my friends with me and we would probably just get a hotel to stay at and we could just eat fast food when we got hungry. |

For the returning 2016-2017 school year, Henderson Bay hired three new teachers: Tate, Shannon and Lisa. Tate teaches art and yoga, Shannon teaches English and drama and Lisa teaches science. Shannon lived overseas in Dublin, Ireland before moving to Washington State. Tate was crowned prom queen in high school and Lisa majored in biology and also minored in political science…but what else do we know about the new teachers? What are their hobbies, favorite movie, book, music and more?

Henderson Backstory: Our goal: publish interviews and features celebrating the people you see daily. Behind every person is a unique story. We strive to ask the questions, do the research and post those personal stories here.
So I started attending Henderson Bay High School (HBHS) on Monday.... so far this week is going pretty well. The teachers are nice; they have smaller classes than other schools so there's more one on one time with them. I feel like I learn better/more that way. After one week I would recommend this school if that is what you're looking for.
